The Flash Drive For August 18, 2026

This week's edition of The Flash Drive, was a typical show, though it was strange, not hearing from anybody at the very beginning of the program. Not to worry, listeners came around and interacted as the show progressed, and at least one listener, interacted in the beginning, but quickly disappeared into the clouds, while I learned towards the end of the show, my two Canadian listeners, slept through most of my show. Not to worry, just when I thought I was going to have to pull out multiple choice on Beat the Intro, a listener called me, during the voice break leading up to Save, or Delete, and got the answer correct, and for sure, their chosen prize album, will be played, on next Tuesday's edition of The Flash Drive, though because of what happened to the artist of the prize album 25 years ago, next Tuesday, next week's show, might be a special in its entirety, dedicated to this particular artist, a final decision will be made, closer to next Tuesday's show, as next week approaches, and I've had more of an opportunity to talk to the prize winner about it, see how long stuff is, etc. I made it through everybody's requests nearly halfway through the program, allowing me to choose the rest of the songs, and all in all, it was a good show today. In the beginning, it looked like this week's edition of The Variety Party, was going to go much smoother than last week's show, for the simple fact, that I not only, prepared the playlist in the morning, allowing me time to relax in the afternoon, but that I had a playlist put together at all, which was much better in comparison to last week's show, where I literally began it, with an empty playlist. However, being prepared for the show, still helped me out, but not in the manner I would have liked. Because no sooner was I on my opening voice break, when, I have a power surge, causing my desktop to reboot, which naturally, took me off the air. As a result of this happening, my show ended up starting, 25 minutes later than usual, and due to barely having the show underway when the power surge occurred, I chose to just, scrap that tiny bit of archive, and restart the show from the beginning, keeping fingers crossed that the second time would be the charm, and in the end, thankfully, it was. As far as the show itself, I did play everybody's requests, there was an Original vs. Sample on The Life of the Party Segment, that amazingly, Herbie Allen, has not done, on his show! I'm rather impressed by being able to beat him to doing this one, without even trying. And, there was, The Flashback Hour, or at least, most of a Flashback Hour, given the time constraints I was placed under where tonight's show was concerned. In the end, I only removed one voice break, AKA talk bed for that particular voice break, and, I cut out one song from The Flashback Hour, that I had initially cued up thinking the first set was too short, but in the end, that set was just fine without that song I ended up removing from the playlist anyway, and, another song got swopped for a listener's request, nothing I haven't done, many times before, but on top of that, I kept voice breaks as short as possible, this was especially true of the one where I usually take up 15 minutes to talk about my week, keeping this week's update, super brief, and, I quietly muted my Telegram session on Tweesecake during the voice breaks, or most of the voice breaks, so I wouldn't get distracted by the ongoing conversation, and just, focus on doing the voice break, and keeping the show moving along, in hopes to get to play most, of what I had cued up to play, despite losing 25 minutes of show, as a result of the power surge. In the end, the show went as smooth as a show that loses 25 minutes, ends up going, and having my playlist prepared and saved ahead of time, helped me out, tramendously. The Flash Drive Special, Featuring Unstoppable And The Best Of Nicktoons For August 11, 2026

This week, on a special edition of The Flash Drive, I featured the movie, as chosen by Monty as his prize, for winning last week's round, of Beat the Intro. He chose the 2010 movie, Unstoppable, though I began this show differently, at the suggestion of Herbie, to build up to the movie. I had initially planned, on featuring the movie, as well as a Save, or Delete, an 80's and 90's Artist Spotlight, and, the album, The Best of Nicktoons, on account of it being the 35-year-anniversary of the initial premier of Nicktoons on Nickelodeon, back on August 11, 1991, and closing out the program, with a Whitney Houston double play, on account of the fact, that this past Sunday, August 9, would have been, her 63rd. birthday, if she was still alive, but in the end, The 80's and 90's Artist Spotlight, ended up getting completely scrubbed, and I ended up closing the program, with one Whitney Houston song, and a song, that Monty chose, at that. After all, he was the prize winner who chose the movie, so it only seemed fair, to keep his chosen song in the playlist, to close out the program. And yes, most of The 80's and 90's Hour, was taken up, by The Best of Nicktoons album, from 1998, as not only were the tracks so short on it, that I chose to not crossfade the tracks on this album, but since there were 41 tracks in total, it took me the entirety of my closing talk bed, and time after the bed finished, to name off all of the tracks on the album. Save, or Delete, was at the end of hour number 2, and one that had been requested by Nick from Santabarbra, all the way back in January, and, I thought everybody was going to despise the song, but amazingly, 1 person voted to save, the song, and I mentioned their vote, at the end of the program. The Variety Party For August 07, 2026

This week's edition of The Variety Party, was not only, the most unprepared I've ever been for a show, but very much, embarrassingly so. I speak of it briefly on the program, but I'll explain in a bit more detail here in the show notes. The Cookie Jar, which is the program that airs before mine on Fridays, has gotten in the habbit, of making the first Friday of the month, Game Day, where a game is played on the program. I love this, and all the way back in February of this year, I made extra sure, to get my show ready early, so I could join in. However, that was also the day, while in the middle of playing the game that I had wanted us to play, I received a call from my mom. Not only did she have groceries for me, but that was when I found out my landlord had called my brother, and was threatening to evict me, if I didn't get my temper under control. I had to stop playing the game, and was just lucky we finished up the game we had been playing, so my brother and I could have a conversation, that left me feeling, pretty upset afterwards. That day is one that sticks out in my memory, for all the wrong reasons, and on top of that, every first Friday of the month, since February of 2026, I didn't get stuff prepared early enough, so had to forego game day, to prepare for The Variety Party. Fast forward, to August, 2026, the date of the show these notes are for, and finally, somebody else besides me, is wanting to try out the game, Exploding Kittens, on RS Games. Seems whenever I bring up this game with anybody else, nobody wants to check it out. The people of the ACB Community claim it's evil. And seems I practically, have to bribe just about anybody else to play it with me. So once I was made aware that somebody else, not me, is wanting to play this game, I felt I'd better take my chance to play while I could. However, I knew I had a show to prepare for, plus, my sleep schedule hasn't been on the greatest set of hours this week, completely throwing me off. It also didn't help I was hungry for lunch upon awakening, craving mini corndogs, pepperjack Cheezits, Coke, and a Hostest chocolate cupcake, all of which, I now had on hand, thanks to receiving them in my groceries on Thursday, so had lunch. Realizing I wasn't going to be able to get the show put together, and play, I was going to leave, and see if Monty would go play with Evil Chocolate Cookie and her crew, but he wasn't sure how to play, and begged me to help him play. Alright, fine. In the end, a new game had to be started, because my leaving the first game, caused it to freeze, so a new game got created, Monty became the game master, and, up until 15 minutes before my show started, that's literally, what I spent, my Friday afternoon, doing. Playing Exploding Kittens on RS Games, while slowly eating my lunch in the studio. In between turns towards the end, I put together the beginning of the show, but with having to help Monty play, I didn't have much opportunity to work on my playlist in between turns. Oh yeah, and did Timothy, Stephanie, Herbie Allen, and Nick from Santabarbra, all join in and play? No, of course not. Had they all joined in to play, I might have had more time in between taking my turn, and helping Monty take his turn, to have actually put stuff together. You are all, very bad people, for being so ignorant all afternoon, but whatever, I digress. At the start of the show, I barely had anything in my playlist, cuing and preparing the request line voicemails, as the show progressed, to the point where, during my voice break to begin The Life of the Party Segment, I was literally, editing the next voicemail to play, while I was talking to everybody. A listener even called into my request line, trying to distract me, but that did fail. In the end, everybody's requests got played, and there were no long gaps of dead air, due to an empty playlist or unchecked tracks in Station Playlist Studio, but as a result of receiving long disco song requests from Herbie Allen, and Christopher Maddocks not even sending in his requests, until practically halfway through the program, there ended up not being a Flashback Hour in the end, but I did make a small compromise for the final 20 to 25 minutes of the program, and did at least play Stephanie's requests that I had promised her back on Tuesday, when time during The Flash Drive, most definitely, didn't allow me to fulfill her requests at that time, given she wanted a triple play, as in, the entire, El Paso trilogy. I still went over by an additional 4 to 5 minutes, but by the end of the show, things had smoothed out tramendously, I calmed down, and the show was successful in the end. I'm going to have to plan better and make better choices in the future, so something like this, doesn't happen again, but that's a story for another day, and something, I'll have to work on in the background, behind the scenes. The Flash Drive For August 04, 2026

On this week's edition of The Flash Drive, I played the usual variety of music, including several listener requests, and I did this, while eating my lunch, which took me roughly 2 thirds of the show to finish. There was a Beat the Intro contest, where not only did I get a winner relatively quickly, but they called my request line to submit their answer, and while traveling on a train, which can be hit or miss, where cellular reception is concerned. Thankfully, they didn't lose their connection, and as a result, congratulations to Monty, for winning this week's round, of the Beat the Intro contest! He has chosen an audio described movie, which will be aired, on next Tuesday's edition, of The Flash Drive, airing Tuesday, August 11, 2026! The Save, or Delete, that was featured on today's program, also received positive results, everybody who voted during the program, voted, to save, it. Finally, there was The 80's and 90's Hour, and Sheena Easton, was this week's 80's and 90's Artist Spotlight, and, given I had never played any of her 90's material before, it received positive feedback.
