The Variety Party, Slumber Party Fiesta, Featuring No Turning Back, By Glass Tiger For October 02, 2026

Oct 3 2026 1:27 PM

After being off the air for 2 weeks straight, what better way to make a triumphant return, than with a Slumber Party Fiesta edition of The Variety Party, featuring the album, as chosen by both, Stephanie Appleby, and Nick from Santabarbra, as their joint prize, for winning the Beat the Intro contest on The Flash Drive back on Tuesday, September 15, 2026. They chose the compilation album, No Turning Back, by Glass Tiger, released in 2005, looking back at the first 20 years of the band's career, featuring several hits from previous albums, as well as material exclusive to this album, which included the title track, and a French version of one of their previous hits. Because this album was over an hour long, I felt it best, to extend the show, but rather than going an hour over via one of my private servers, I chose to start an hour earlier from my usual start time, not only to be different, but given how I've felt as of late, I wasn't in the mood to go late into the night. Post the album's conclusion, I kid you not, I spoke for 45 minutes straight, about what I did on my mini vacation when my cousin JoAnn visited from out of town, and how miserable I felt over the past week post returning from my mini vacation, so if you're sick with a very bad cold, or even the flu, which, my listeners are starting to think I may have actually had the flu, based on how I described how I felt and what little I felt like doing for a few days, just go back and listen to my 45 minute ramble, and know, you're not alone, I know what it's like to feel like dog shit, it's not fun, and I'm very grateful it doesn't happen very often, but when it happens, it's not fun, and where these show notes are concerned, I'll leave it at that, as the extremely long voice break, speaks for itself. By the time I finish rambling, we're down to roughly 90 minutes remaining of this program, which featured The Life of the Party Segment, where a requested 3-way Compare the Difference took place, that would have very nicely fit into a Flashback Hour, had there been one on this particular edition of the program, and following the Compare the Difference, was pretty much, nothing but listener requests, until the very end of the show, where I played 2 of my favorite songs from an artist's self-titled album, inspired by songs Herbie Allen and Nick Baker played from this same album, that are personal favorites of theirs on the latest episodes of their shows, and, while I didn't have time to do my original double closure I wanted to do, I did play the song that wouldn't fit The 80's and 90's Hour on The Flash Drive, and, I was originally going to request it, on last Sunday's edition of The Herbie Allen Show, but changed my mind, when it became apparent, that The Grand Master of Fuzz, needed the Queen of Disco, to remind him, what season is upon us in North America, lol! Anyway, I had fun doing the show, and was thankful what songs did get chopped out of my playlist to make room for requests, will fit The 80's and 90's Hour on The Flash Drive, with hopes to play them on next Tuesday's show. I also had fun doing the program, am happy to be back, Live, on the Internet radio airwaves, and hope I won't have to miss a Live show again for a while, or if I do, it's for positive reasons, and not, because I'm sick, badly injured, or lack working equipment or a stable private environment to do the program. The Flash Drive, Featuring The Anastasia Soundtrack For September 15, 2026

Sep 16 2026 12:03 AM

Today on The Flash Drive, I not only, played several listener requests, but I also, had another round, of the Beat the Intro contest, and today's clip, was super difficult to figure out! It took nearly half the program before a correct answer was reached, and, it took 2 listeners, to get it correct. Nick from Santabarbra, correctly answered the song artist, thanks to clues given during the first hour of the program, while Stephanie, correctly answered the song title, through process of elimination, when multiple choice was given during the second hour of the program. For this reason, Nick and Stephanie have joint decided on an album, and their chosen prize album, will be played, on the next edition of The Variety Party, which won't be airing until Friday, September 25, 2026, because I'll be taking a mini vacation to spend time with family and see a cousin of mine who's visiting from out of town, who I haven't seen, in over 13 years! It will be super exciting, and I hope I have exciting things to talk about, when I return. Archives of both of my shows will air on the days I'm unavailable to do shows, on September 18, and September 22, respectively. In terms of what else happened on this program, there was a Save, or Delete, which everybody wanted, deleted, and, The 80's and 90's Hour was literally, taken up by, the chosen movie soundtrack for this week, which was from the 1997 animated film, Anastasia. Once again, I barely made it through the entire soundtrack, when it came time to disconnect from Server 1 of 98.6 The Mix, to make way for the next regularly scheduled program, so switched over to one of my private servers to finish the show, which went an additional hour, and included a triple closure. If you are catching the archive of this show, and wish to follow along with the playlist, it can be found, down below! Hope you enjoy, Happy Listening, and, we'll talk soon! The Variety Party, Remembers 9-11, 25 Years Later, Special For September 11, 2026

Sep 12 2026 1:26 PM

With today being, Friday, September 11, 2026, and it being, exactly 25 years after the terrorist attacks took place on Tuesday, September 11, 2001, it only seemed appropriate, to do a special edition, of The Variety Party, where I played content, specific to this day in history, as tragic as it was, because not only was it in my opinion, one of the saddest, horrible days ever to take place in my country, but I was alive, and old enough, to remember where I was, when it all happened. Plus, I had acquired some more material since doing my September 11th. Special of Flashback Friday, 6 years ago, on this day, in 2020. So, to commemorate this event, I featured a documentary looking back at the event, from the perspective of the news ancorers who covered it on that day, a musical, audio described, that focused on what happened with the passengers who were routed to Canada, and how they were treated for the 3 days they were stuck, while flights in the U.S. remained grounded, and 4 songs, that heavily reflect the day, from how people felt as it happened, to, the after effects of it, showing grief over lost love ones, which sadly, there were plenty of those, and God, speaking directly to the audience, at the end of the program. I even gave a moment of silence at the end of my closing voice break. It only seemed fitting, and appropriate, to do that. It was a somber show, but a necessary one to do, on such a milestone. So I advise you to have the tissues nearby while you listen to this, as trust me when I say, you're going to need them. If you are catching the archive of this show, and wish to follow along with the playlist, it can be found, down below! May we remember, what happened, on that September day, and never, ever, forget. The Flash Drive, Special, Featuring Reunion By The Temptations, And Forrest Gump Soundtrack For September 08, 2026

Sep 8 2026 11:03 PM

Today's edition of The Flash Drive, was a special show, where something happened, that has never, happened before on the program. As far as what was featured on the program, it began, with the album, Reunion, by The Temptations, that Herbie Allen chose as his prize, for winning the latest round, of the Beat the Intro contest, during last Friday's makeup edition of this show. I played the cassette version for the first 7 songs on the album, and then, played the CD, to feature the 2 bonus tracks, that are only available on the CD release of the album. Once the album concluded, I had an extended 80's and 90's Hour, which covered the rest of the program, and featured the movie soundtrack, as chosen by the listeners. This week, it was the double soundtrack album, of Forrest Gump. As a result of the Temptations album taking up the first hour, and the Forrest Gump soundtrack taking up the last 2 hours of the show, not only did I not have any room for requests, but for the first time ever, since I initially premiered this show on MCBVI Radio back in early January of 2025, I did not, do, a Save, or Delete! I also went into overtime, doing the closing voice break and disconnecting The Flash Drive on one of my private servers, since the last track of the soundtrack, ended, at 2 minutes past 6 PM, and I didn't wish for the show following me, to start any later than that. I also started 5 minutes early, so I could squeeze in a promo that was roughly 5 minutes in length that's never been played on my shows before, and even starting 5 minutes earlier than usual, didn't keep me from having to go into overtime. I also had a tiny bit of buffering at the start of the program, but thankfully, that ironed out and the show was smooth once that calmed down. I had a lot of fun doing the program, and thanks to having such long sets with albums and such, it gave me time to finish my lunch, and clean up from lunch too.
